The games we play.
There’s always talk of “gaming” favstar. Of starring heavily to get ahead, purely because if you hand out enough stars you will get some reciprocal ones in return, regardless of the tripe you’re tweeting. It’s a thing. It happens.
But there’s one thing that can be said for the hardcore gamers: at least they’re honest about it.
Sure, if quizzed they’ll openly admit to not reading tweets. Just starring blindly because it’s a means to an end.
But there’s something worse though. A far worse kind of game. And it’s the people who make “friends” on twitter solely for the potential benefits of that friendship. Specifically those who do it to get ahead on favstar. They will be your new best friend for stars and RTs. And ditch you faster than you can blink once they no longer need you or they get disenchanted with their lack of success on favstar.
And it’s ironic how they sneer at favstarwhores and gamers. When the game they play is so much dirtier. hypocrisy is cute, no?
Life gets in the way and circumstances change. Friendships change too. But some people who move on from favstar are suddenly transparent. Because they cultivated friendships they no longer need and so they move on from them too.
At least the “gamers” are honest. To me the fake friends are a far worse kind of gaming.
